Francesco leads the EU R&T policy and initiatives of Finmeccanica Aircraft Division (formerly Alenia Aermacchi) which he joined in 1985. He coordinates the Division technical position and research activities in EU upon Finmeccanica directives. He has been building-up and managing Clean Sky 1 and Clean Sky 2 as well as many major EU research projects.

Francesco is a Mechanical Engineer with a background in heat transfer and system optimization. As such he led Environmental Control Systems Engineering Unit of the Division designing among the others ATR ECS systems and coordinated on-board systems technology development and research.

He is member of ACARE ETP WG 2 on aviation competitiveness, member of the Steering Committee of EUMAT ETP, member of Clean Sky Governing Board, member of Euromart (EU aircraft manufacturers working group), member of the Italian ACARE parent organization, member of ASD working groups and served several times as EU project evaluators. He has been also ISO 9001 auditor and EASA CVE.
