William’s research focuses on developing advanced products that exploit big data and remote sensing for applications such as agriculture, forestry, and water management.  He works closely with a variety of stakeholders, including end users and domain experts in industry, government, and academia, to discover how to address the information needs of the next generation of remote sensing users.

After completing a Master’s of Science from Carleton University, William was a geomatics instructor for the Canadian Armed Forces and a research consultant where he specialized in applying machine learning approaches to geology and agriculture applications using earth observation data. William also worked as a remote sensing scientist for the Canadian Center for Remote Sensing (CCRS) where he applied his interests to national and regional classification problems. William joined UrtheCast in 2015 as a Remote Sensing Scientist and is now managing a number of research and development programs.
